ABOUT / BIO
Sven is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, New York’s famed Neighborhood
Playhouse (with Sanford Meisner) and the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. Sven also wrote and
directed the documentary, The Ballerina Interviews, which premiered on PBS.
A California native, Sven's early ballet training started in Los Angeles with the Royal Ballet’s Stanley Holden
and Margaret Hills. He continued his studies in New York at the Joffrey and American Ballet Theatre schools
culminating in his being hired by Houston Ballet Company, under Ben Stevenson. While in Houston, Sven
performed in the entire repertory including the classics Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Nutcracker
and Balanchine’s Serenade and Theme & Variations. Sven has also performed as a soloist with Hubbard
Street Dance Company in Chicago under Lou Conte, Tulsa Ballet Theatre under Moscelyne Larkin and with
Valentina Kosolova’s Daring Project with choreographer Margo Sappington.

As a teacher, in addition to the studios listed on this site, he has also taught at New York University,
Broadway Dance Center, UCLA, California Institute of the Arts, Santa Monica College, Edge Performing
Arts Center, LA Dance Force, Laguna Dance Theatre, Houston Met Dance Center, and California Dance Theatre.
